Retired journalist Metin Dirim says: “Universities are the places with the highest level of socialization. When we heard about this program, my spouse and I enrolled in it. We gained numerous experiences, and what mattered most to us was socializing. We had the opportunity to meet young students at the university. Going back to the student life was an amazing feeling for us. We had to be very active, especially mentally. These experiences at our age were very beneficial for us. After all, there is no age limit to learning. However, one should also research how and where to learn. Unfortunately, retirees often withdraw into their own corners after retirement, especially if they have grandchildren to take care of. But it’s not just a matter of retirees wanting this; the government and universities need to be sensitive to it. The state should support universities financially and morally in this regard so that it can reach the community, and more people can benefit from it.
